Busy Month - My Son's Birthday Bash

Month of July is such a busy month for me. Since it is my son's 7th birthday celebration.
We wanted a party that will bring happiness to my son, a practical one..just a simple party.

My son adores "Adventure Time" especially Finn and Jake that's why it is his theme on his party. I started off with the invitation which I made by myself.

I'm just  so proud of myself after seeing this print out! Nice one, huh!

Then I started doing the layout for his loot bags.

And a good friend of mine did the honor of printing and pasting it to the brown paper bags she also bought. Now, that's really a blessing! Having a friend to help me out.

It really takes a lot of effort in planning for a birthday party, and it is really difficult planning alone. I'm just glad to be surrounded by family and friends who can lend their hands.
The souvenirs which I am thinking, if it will be necessary since there will be loot bags for the kids already were again, taken cared of my friend. (I have lots of "utang na loob" to pay for! ^_^ )

Then, I had the tarpaulin layout done and printed it on a friend's shop for P300.00.
I saved P100.00 for the layout!
Here's the actual tarpaulin.
My photo shop skills are getting better, I guess! hehehe
Aside from all of this, I also printed some cupcake toppers and made some layout for our family shirts, Adventure Time theme.
I'll post the pictures on my next blog post..A continuation of my son's party!

My Mom's Leafy Vegetable Salad

My mom is becoming aware of the benefits of  healthy eating and herbal medicines nowadays because she's tired of drinking those pills and tablets.
Yesterday she prepared this salad that she learned from a television show, I called it Leafy Vegetable salad because it contains green leafy vegetables.

Here are the list of vegetables she used.

~Kangkong ( Water Spinach / swamp cabbage)
~Kamote tops (Sweet Potato leaves)
~Saluyot (Corchorus)
~Malunggay leaves
~tomatoes
~onions
~ginger

First, she soaked it  in water with baking soda to clean the leaves thoroughly. Just toss all the ingredients in a bowl with chopped onions, tomatoes and ginger.
Add vinegar and brown sugar as its dressing and it's done!

I was not hesitant to try it for it taste really good, specially if you're eating fresh vegetables.

If you have other vegetable salad recipes that are easy to prepare I would love to know.. Thanks and Happy
Posting!

Thrifted.. Pre Loved..

Have you been on a Thrift store or garage sale? Ever heard of "Pre loved"?

I heard that word and knew about it on my first year in online selling, I had seen online shops selling Pre loved stuffs or what we call "second hand" or thrifted. It's rampant here in our country and in the local market we call it "Ukay - ukay".

Have you bought one in such stores? I once, bought from an online store a pair of branded kid's clothes and hardbound books. That was my first and the second one was from a friend which I bought a pair of leather boots and a branded jacket also for kids. That was it for I only buy second hand items from persons I really know and I am very choosy and meticulous about it.
I'd been selling my own "pre loved" clothings on my shop, too..some are my kids' stuffs which are very rarely used or never been used, and having my personal friends known that I'm an online seller they will ask me to sell their personal items which they never or they are not using anymore. I really love helping them and of course it's an extra income for me, too.

In my page for Ladies I have 3 albums which are all pre loved or thrifted. I just hope I'd be able to sell them all.

Just a few tips in buying or selling second hand items:

* Make sure that what you are selling / buying are in a usable state and is still presentable.
* For buyers, specially if you bought an item from the "Ukay ukay" (or from persons you don't know personally) wash the item thoroughly and iron them first before using so you can be sure that you can't get any diseases from it.

What's your views about Thrifted / Second Hand / used / Pre loved / or Ukay ukay items? Are they worth it?

I Will Totally Omit You In My Life

No! I'm not talking about a person here..

I'm talking about this cheap slimming pills I recently ordered online. I was really frustrated in losing those fats I accumulated for the past months so without thinking I ordered a bunch. Then when I am about to take a pill, it smells really awful and I really can't take it. I am having wild thoughts, I researched for reviews in the net and it doesn't say anything about the pill I was about to take all that was written there says that its effective and yet it just smells a little awful.

Last year I have taken 2 bottles of other brand and yes, the effects are great and in just a week I can feel my collar bones again. Those pills made my throat dry the whole time I was using it and I need to gulp on liters of water even when I am sleeping I'd be awake wanting to have a drink for it really made my mouth dry. I lose my appetite and I can survive the whole day without even eating and never felt hungry but of course I still eat for I know it will be very bad for my health if I won't.
Before I even finished the 2nd bottle I was ill with UTI or Urinary Track Infection and that triggers me to stop taking the pill. After 3 days of not taking it I was pigging out and in just one month I gained the weight I lost and it doubled.

Last February, I ventured to another slimming pill, this time the expensive one which costs around P1,200.00.. I wasn't taking it continuously because I don't feel like taking it everyday so the pill lasted for 2 months and on 1st week of April I found out I'm pregnant and lost my baby because of taking that pill.

I have learned lots of lessons but I'm still too stubborn, but I guess I'm not that brave now to even put these stuffs on my system again.

So from now on.. I WILL TOTALLY OMIT YOU IN MY LIFE! for good!

I'll be fit and healthy the natural way.. I PROMISE!

God's Mysterious Ways

God makes way and give us faith..
I always believe in that, for God helped me in wonderful and mysterious ways.

Yesterday I was short in cash literally, I only have a hundred peso bill in my wallet and I have two parcels for shipping which cost P173.00 so I still need P73.00 more. One neighbor of mine had ordered one PVC bag tag for her kid and when shes handing me her payment it was a hundred peso bill which I don't have any change for it so I told her to pay me later (it's only P65.00 so even if she pays me I'm still short..hahaha).

What I did was searched everywhere if there's some change or money I'd left somewhere in our house. I was rummaging my underwear drawer while uttering "I hope I can find a hundred peso bill, God please help me.."

And..
Guess what I have found?!

This.. 5 pieces hundred peso bill..

I was really surprised and jumping for joy! Then I remember I put it there two weeks ago and  I just totally forgotten about it. I know God showed it to me, He always did. This wasn't the first time I ran out of money and God helped me. I ended up seeing money in places I wouldn't have thought of.. I remember the time when my daughter is still a baby and my husband doesn't have money to buy milk for her, I jokingly reached into to my pocket and believe it or not.. I have 3 hundred peso bills in there just enough to buy a box of milk.

Then I thank God for it..for I know He works in mysterious ways. Miracle do happens if you believe and if your faith is strong.

Thank you God for all the blessings, I might add last night 3 of my buyers came to my home to get and pay their orders. Isn't that amazing? Aside from the one who paid through money transfer.. I really feel blessed.

Lets start this day right with a SMILE and a PRAYER .

Happy Posting Friends!

My Photoshop Projects

I was thinking of a creative project I've done to join Mr. CEO's Creativity Challenge and I guess this photo shop projects I made might be qualified.

This first photo is for my cousin's debut, and I did all the layout for this using Adobe photo shop CS4. I am not an expert in doing something like this for I just learned using photo shop by my own through online tutorials and a little help from my younger sister &kayeah24 .
First thing I've learned in photo shop was transferring a photo to another photo and cropping objects, which took a lot of time and patience. Then, everything follows but I know I still have a lot to learn.

This one is a tarpaulin for my nephew's first birthday. Doing one can be made from an hour to a day or more..depending on my mood. That's why I wanted to create ahead of time so I'd be satisfied with my creation.

When Running Out of Thoughts..

I thought I'm back to blogging a few days ago but I just realized I am still not in the mood to post or write anything. I always have an open "Submit Tab" on my browser but I always ends up with a blank page.. my brain is not working and I am running out of thoughts. Writer's block? Again?! hehe.. I guess I am having some problems on thinking what topic to write about and how I can post one with quality content. I'm also wondering where my other Bubblews friends are for I am missing those stuffs (lots of good stuffs) they are posting.

Three Women

Sunday - May 12, 2013

It is indeed a special day to all of us Moms around the globe! Whatever you call us "Nanay", "Inay", "Mama", "Mommy", "Momsy", "Mom" It is our day! So, happy Mom's Day to all of us!
There are 3 women I look up to, my mom whom we call "nanay" and as we age we have changed it to "mader dir" (mother dear) for fun and our terms of endearment.

I remember when we were still young she's always been busy working to give whatever we need. I can say she almost gave us everything we want and not just we need. Those times she were very strict and I can say she nags and hit us sometimes but I understand that now that I am a mom, too.
She changed as time passes by and all of us siblings begin to feel the coolest side of our mom. She's really loving, giving and yes she's a snob and funny, too.
That is when I guess we started calling her "Mader Dir".. she's really dear to us and we love her so much as much as her grandchildren does.
Thank you so much for everything, Nay!

The second one is my Aunt, though she doesn't have the children of her own she is still a great mom to my cousins and all of us. She is living with my grandmother together with my cousins and she was the one who looks and take care of them. She is more than worthy to be called "mom".

Sabaw Kape

If you're a Filipino for sure you have tried this? Anyone?!

"Sabaw (Soup) Kape (Coffee)"

I don't know if this is peculiar for all of you but it is common for us. We dip our bread in coffee, if you missed my post just click here --> www.bubblews.com/news/453894-quotsawsaw-kapequot

and we use coffee as a soup for our rice! In the photo above I pour my hot coffee over my fried rice with egg and hotdogs. Taste so good! Nothing beats the taste of coffee mixed with rice. If you haven't tried it yet, you should!

Whole Wheat Pan Cakes! - Make it Fun and Healthy!

Last Saturday, I tried this Whole Wheat Pan cake mix for a healthier option rather than the ordinary white mix. Whole wheat mix has fiber, cholesterol free, zero gram trans fat and it used Muscovado sugar. At first I thought my children will not like it since they are really picky eaters but I'm so happy that they loved it.

So here's my first master piece I made this for my son. Shaped like a teddy bear (almost!) hehe.. I just sprinkled some sugar and decorated if with their favorite cereal Koko crunch Duo. Make it more fun by letting your kids decorate their own pan cakes.

Here's what I made for my daughter, with detachable ears (hahaha..).
She's so happy eating her pan cake.

Just seeing my kids enjoying their meal takes away my tiredness. I can cook and be creative just for them.

Try making one for your kids, too. I always add milk to my pancake mix to make it softer and tastier. You can also add raisins for toppings or even fresh fruits.

My Business, My Hobby

I am proudly presenting my little business.

Mom's Addiction - where Fab Mom's shops!

I came up with the name of my shop from my own addiction to online shopping, that's why I named it "Mom's Addiction".

I started buying online when I saw this shop just near us and purchase some children's clothing. Then I kept searching Facebook for more shops selling different stuffs and after a few good buys I decided, why not putting up my own online shop?

First, I searched the net for online sellers to be my supplier of children's apparel. I observed the way online sellers are, I joined groups for more exposure and knowledge about the field.

October 23, 2011 when I finally launched my shop. It's really weird, watching every notifications that pops on my wall.. and then days pass by and not a single inquiry on my items. But I do have earnings from selling to my neighbors and friends. I just wait and expose my items on different groups and keep on advertising.
Finally after almost 2 months, I had my first online client. My first time to ship an item, too. I felt nervous but excited.
These are the items my first online buyer bought. I feel so proud of myself after shipping her items. It feels great even more when she received the items and told me she loved it. It's a fulfillment for me.

By the way I sell Kids clothing and hair accessories, I started with a few items and as I earned I just added it up to my capital to buy more items to sell.

I just celebrated my online shops 1st year anniversary, and as I way of saying my appreciation to my clients I organized a free raffle just for them.

Here are some samples of my items.
I sell hair accessories like head bands and hair clips.
I sell dresses and other clothes for little girls.
I also have clothes for little boys, and other stuffs like Wheat grass and Barley Juice.

If you're interested in visiting my shop just click here Mom's Addiction.

I Want To Be A Writer

The first time I wrote an essay and poem was in third grade. I always join on every contest in our school. I also joined Poster and Slogan Making contests. Luckily I've got 1st place on both essay and poem writing. It is a very remarkable moment of my child hood. By the way, both we're written on our native language which is "Tagalog".I began creating poems in English when I'm in Fifth grade. We also recited it on stage.
I wasn't that appreciative of my talent that time, maybe because I'm still young and I feel like I just need to write and create those things just because of high grades.
When I'm in Sixth Grade, I became a part of our School's Journal. I made a story that was featured in it. It's a short story entitled "Tinig ng Hangin" (Voice of the Wind). I already forgot what is it all about.. anyways, I still have a copy of that journal. (I just need to dig on my treasure chest, lol)
That's the time I realized that I want to be a writer. I think It's really cool seeing my works published in a newspaper or books.
But then as I grow older, I've got lesser time on writing.
I really hope joining Bubblews and other Blogging sites will help improve my writing/blogging skills, and continue my dream of being a successful writer. ^_^
